Physiologically and biologically, our mind can alter the outcomes of our health and performance via the LHPA system. This pathway is the same neuronal pathway where thought energy is activated in the frontal lobe, thus sending arousal signals (either positive or negative) into the loop which is where our autonomic, endocrine and immune systems mediate stress, emotions, behavior, symptoms, as well as healing processes.

The LHPA Pathway: I Am What I Think

Cliche as it sounds, thoughts DO become things. Literally. Physiologically and biologically, our mind can alter the outcomes of our health and performance via the LHPA system; a complex system of mind body communication that integrates stress inputs throughout the body which converge on a common neuronal pathway of the hypothalamus, pituitary and adrenal glands.

Energy flows where attention goes….

This pathway is the same neuronal pathway where thought energy is activated in the frontal lobe, thus sending arousal signals (either positive or negative) into the loop which is where our autonomic, endocrine and immune systems mediate stress, emotions, behavior, symptoms, as well as healing processes.

Because they are on the same neuronal pathway, its a 2-way street so to speak & therefore the mind can literally alter the physiology of the brain & thus biology of the body by sending molecular hormonal messengers to modulate cognition, emotions, behavior, immune system response and function, digestion, respiration, movement, heart rate, blood pressure and more – all based on the settings the mind has created.

The world is what you think it is…

The perception of your environment and each aspect of your life to be producing positive or negative circumstances ultimately governs your mood, hormones, cravings, concentration, sleep quality, pain management, performance, healing, recovery and even your weight.

When we assess new clients and perform follow up evaluations, there’s always a section for the limbic system that gathers a lot of data based on what our client’s external stress inputs are. This tells us a lot about what their external environment is, how they perceive, react to and moderate it, and how it is affecting the dynamics of the LHPA system, which ultimately is affecting their health and performance.

This helps us determine what needs to be done or implemented to improve their stress responses and what tools we can give or guide them through so they can become their own master. Stress, most commonly, is “the tail wagging the dog” and that is when it leads to anxiety, depression, addiction and disease.

Effectiveness is the measure of truth…

When you learn exactly how this complex system works and how powerful YOU really are, beyond the cliche quotes, you control how your body functions and performs, what you think and how you feel and when shit hits the fan (bc this is life; and it will) you have the connection and awareness to know what tools, actions and thought processes will get you where you need to be.
